Welcome to another edition of 6-Banner Sunday, a joint production between The Assembly Call and Inside the Hall, and presented by our friends at Trueblood Real Estate, where we highlight the five most essential IU basketball stories of the past week, plus take a look at how the other IU sports programs are doing.

A noteworthy headline occurred a few days ago after one of the quietest weeks for IU stories in the last edition of 6-Banner. This involved a significant addition to Indiana’s TBT Alumni Team.

Besides this, recruiting, Inside the Hall finishing its preview of where every Big Ten team stands, an NBA draft update and Podcast on the Brink. We will, as usual, conclude with a look at other IU sports led by a significant addition to the softball squad.

Here is what’s in this week’s edition:

• Hulls added to TBT team
• Trent Sisley and Braylon Mullins Q&A’s
• Inside the Hall’s Big Ten offseason series
• Kel’el Ware’s draft stock is on the rise
• Podcast on the Brink
• Hoosier Roundup

Banner #1 – Hulls added to TBT team

The basketball team made up of all IU alumni continues to get closer and closer to competition at the TBT next month. They begin play on Friday, July 19 at 6 p.m. in Indianapolis at Butler’s Hinkle Fieldhouse with tickets available at this link.

However, the headline here was the addition of another player. Current Hoosier recruiting coordinator Jordan Hulls will be a player and coach on the squad. He is the sixth person announced to “Assembly Ball,” joining Yogi Ferrell, Devonte Green, Miller Kopp, Juwan Morgan and Troy Williams.

While basketball awaits games in this format, former Indiana soccer players finished competing in the sister event to this at the TST in North Carolina. They made a run to the Final Four of the event before falling to eventual champion La Bombonera.

Banner #2 – Trent Sisley and Braylon Mullins Q&A’s

As summer approaches, the college sports season and especially IU basketball have entered a recruiting phase. With the 2024 roster now likely set (which includes highly-ranked freshman Bryson Tucker) and everyone on campus, the Hoosiers have turned their attention to 2025 and beyond.

The 2025 class in the state of Indiana is one of the best in recent memory and several of the prospects in it moved up in new rankings by Rivals.com. Jalen Haralson continues to pace everyone and is now ranked at 7 while Darius Adams climbed to 16. Top target Braylon Mullins made a massive jump from the 80s to 31. Meanwhile, Trent Sisley moved up slightly to 67. Also, Malachi Moreno, who resides just over the border in Kentucky and plays his summer ball for Indiana Elite, rose to 24.

Inside the Hall, had a spring highlight video for Kiyan Anthony (son of NBA great Carmelo Anthony) who comes in at 36 nationally and is an IU target as well. ITH also did interviews with Mullins and Sisley. Finally, the coaching staff attended the NBPA Top 100 Camp In Orlando, which featured many players that the Hoosiers are targeting for 2025 and 2026.

Banner #3 – Inside the Hall’s Big Ten offseason series

Inside the Hall concluded its series previewing all the Big Ten teams for next season. The conference has expanded with the West Coast schools and now has 18 squads in the league. This week, ITH looked at Purdue and newcomer UCLA.

Banner #4 – Kel’el Ware’s draft stock is on the rise

The one major contributor for IU who departed the team after 2023-2024 is star center Kel’el Ware. This is because Ware played himself into a relatively high draft pick after a phenomenal season in Bloomington.

New NBA mock drafts were recently released. All have Ware going no later than the end of the first round while several now have him up in the lottery. The Ringer’s Kevin O’Conner is the most bullish projecting him at nine to the Memphis Grizzles.

Banner #5 – Podcast on the Brink

Inside the Hall’s Podcast on the Brink returned this week. On it, ITH’s Alex Bozich is joined by Tyler Tachman of the Des Moines Register. The two discussed the outlook for every Big Ten Team heading into 2024-2025.

Also, Right Up Meridian had an episode this week from the Back Home Network. On it, Scott Caulfield was joined by Pacers’ reporter Dustin Dopirak of the Indianapolis Star to recap their season.

Banner #6 – Hoosier Roundup

• Softball added an elite transfer for 2025 and likely 2026. This came in the form of Hoosier native and former Ohio State Buckeye Melina Wilkison who was injured most of last season. However, she hit .373 with 11 homers in 2023 and .342 as a freshman in 2022.

• Volleyball announced its schedule for this coming fall.

• Women’s soccer announced the addition of a new assistant coach.

• Baseball’s Devin Taylor received a training camp invite to Team USA and also picked up multiple postseason awards. Reliever Jacob Vogel was also honored.

• Wrestling announced their upcoming recruiting class, which ranks 14th nationally.

• Field Hockey also announced their upcoming recruiting class.

• Track and field had four of their competitors honored as All-Americans.

• Multiple athletes with IU connections are competing at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Indianapolis.

• 136 IU athletes were recognized for their academic success.

• Two IU players are attending the NCAA’s Inclusion Forum and Athlete Symposium.

Now go enjoy yourself a 6-banner Sunday.
