Notable college basketball insider projects Indiana to finish second in Big Ten
A notable college basketball insider has released his Big Ten projections for the 2024-25 season.
Jon Rothstein released his projections for the new 18-team Big Ten on Monday morning. In his preseason power rankings, Indiana is second in the league.
The Big Ten is expanding from 14 to 18 teams this season with the addition of Oregon, UCLA, USC and Washington. The league will continue to play a 20-game schedule.
Rothstein’s pick to win the Big Ten is Purdue, the two-time defending Big Ten regular season champion.

Rothstein also picked Indiana’s Oumar Ballo as a first All-Big Ten team selection.
Other IU players listed in his preseason superlatives include Bryson Tucker as one of the league’s 15 impact freshmen, Ballo, Myles Rice and Kanaan Carlyle as three of the league’s 20 impact transfers and Luke Goode as one of the league’s 15 under-the-radar transfers.
