According to a Yahoo Sports report, scholarship limits in men’s and women’s basketball are expected to increase.

Ross Dellenger of Yahoo reported Wednesday that conference commissioners have finalized roster limits beginning with the 2025-26 academic year.

The new limit for men’s and women’s basketball scholarships will increase from 13 to 15.

Other expected increases: football going from 85 scholarships to 105, baseball going from 11.7 scholarships to 34, softball from 12 scholarships to 25 and volleyball from 12 scholarships to 18.

Also of note from Dellenger’s reporting:

Another key change to the scholarship structure: All sports will be considered “equivalency sports,” meaning partial scholarships can be distributed to players. Football, basketball and other sports are currently considered “head-count sports,” which require players on scholarship to receive a full grant.

The changes result from three antitrust cases, including House v. NCAA. According to Dellenger, the agreement is expected to be filed on Friday.

As part of the agreement, upwards of $2.77 billion in back pay will be distributed to former athletes. The filing is also expected to contain more details of the new revenue-sharing model, which will allow schools to distribute more than $20 million annually.
