At the Buzzer: Nebraska 93, Indiana 66
Quick thoughts on a 93-66 loss to Nebraska:
How it happened
Indiana led Nebraska 17-16 at the 10:46 mark on an Anthony Walker layup. It would be the last time the Hoosiers led on Friday night in the Big Ten tournament quarterfinals at the Target Center. The Cornhuskers caught fire from deep, outscoring the Hoosiers 34-10 the rest of the half. Nebraska, which closed the half on a 17-0 run, shot 12-for-20 on 3s and scored 1.45 points per possession. Keisei Tominaga, who has been a tough cover all season for Indiana, torched the Hoosiers with 18 points on 7-for-10 shooting from the field. Brice Williams wasn’t far behind with 14 points of his own. Indiana, meanwhile, was a dismal 8-for-32 and committed seven turnovers.
With the game already out of hand, the Hoosiers never seriously threatened Nebraska in the second half. Indiana got within 18 at 56-38, but the Cornhuskers pushed the lead back to 22 by the under-12 media timeout. After a red-hot 3-point shooting performance in the first half, Nebraska didn’t make its first 3-pointer in the second half until the 12:36 mark. Nebraska’s lead stretched to 25 points at 74-49 at the under-eight media timeout. Mike Woodson, who was assessed two technical fouls in the second half, was ejected with 5:20 to play. The Hoosiers were completely outclassed in suffering their 14th loss of the season, falling to 19-14 overall and a third straight loss this season to Nebraska.
Standout performer
Xavier Johnson finished with eight points, five rebounds, five assists, a steal and just one turnover in 32 minutes.
Statistic that stands out
