On Wednesday, John Calipari said at SEC media days that Indiana and Kentucky had “agreed in principle” to resume their series in men’s basketball.

On Thursday, Calipari said the programs will play four times according to Cameron Drummond of The Lexington Herald-Leader.

Calipari made the comments at the UK Alumni Association basketball kickoff luncheon.

“It’s what our fans deserve and to be honest, it’s who our team wants to play,” Calipari said, according to Griffin Gonzalez of WDRB Sports.

The series will begin in the 2025-26 season – which is more than three years away – according to Calipari. Indiana has not commented on when the series could begin.

Indiana and Kentucky last played in the 2016 NCAA tournament in Des Moines, Iowa. The Hoosiers prevailed, 73-67 to advance to the Sweet Sixteen.

The regular season series between the storied programs ended after Christian Watford’s buzzer-beater sank the No. 1 Wildcats in December of 2011.

The Wildcats lead the all-time series with the Hoosiers 32-25.
