James Blackmon Jr. signs rookie contract with Philadelphia
Former Indiana guard James Blackmon Jr. agreed to a rookie contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, the team announced on Wednesday morning.
Blackmon Jr. averaged eight points, 2.6 rebounds and a steal in 16.3 minutes per game for the 76ers over five NBA Summer League games in Utah and Las Vegas.
He posted an offensive rating of just 94.9 and shot just 43.2 percent from the field (26.3 percent on 3s).
The deal is partially guaranteed, according to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer, and will include a training camp invite.
Philadelphia has 17 players under contract next season. If Blackmon Jr. fails to make Philadelphia’s roster out of training camp, he could be assigned to the team’s G-League affiliate, the Delaware 87ers.
Blackmon Jr. was an All-Big Ten third team selection as a junior at Indiana and scored 1,235 points in 76 games.
