Jalen Hood-Schifino, Trayce Jackson-Davis to be a part of NBA’s opening night doubleheader
Former Indiana standouts Jalen Hood-Schifino and Trayce Jackson-Davis will play their first NBA games on the opening night of the 2023-24 schedule.
According to a report from Shams Charania, the NBA season will open October 24 with a doubleheader on TNT. The two games will be the Los Angeles Lakers at the Denver Nuggets and the Phoenix Suns at the Golden State Warriors.

Hood-Schifino was the No. 17 pick by the Lakers and Jackson-Davis was the No. 57 pick by the Washington Wizards (and traded to Golden State) in June’s NBA draft.
The complete 2023-24 NBA schedule is expected to be released soon.
In Summer League, Hood-Schifino averaged 13.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game in six appearances in Sacramento and Las Vegas.
In a pair of games for the Golden State Warriors, Jackson-Davis averaged 16.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks per contest.
Both players signed their NBA contracts in early July.
Hood-Schifino “signed a 4-year / $17,882,808 contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. In 2023-24, Hood-Schifino will earn a base salary of $3,695,040, while carrying a cap hit of $3,695,040 and a dead cap value of $3,695,040,” according to Sportrac.
Jackson-Davis “signed a 4-year / $7,639,302 contract with the Golden State Warriors. In 2023-24, Jackson-Davis will earn a base salary of $1,119,563, while carrying a cap hit of and a dead cap value of $1,119,563,” according to Spotrac.
Hood-Schifino will wear jersey No. 0 for the Lakers next season and Jackson-Davis will wear jersey No. 32 for the Warriors.
