At the buzzer: Indiana 94, Jacksonville 64
Quick thoughts on a 94-64 win over Jacksonville:
How it happened: It was another slow start on Branch McCracken Court, but it didn’t take the Hoosiers long to find their footing. In its final non-conference contest of the season, Indiana trailed 14-9, but responded with a 9-0 run and went into halftime with a comfortable 44-29 lead. From there, the rout was on and the only intrigue on the court was the Juwan Morgan triple-double watch. The Hoosiers finished up the non-conference slate with a 9-2 record and are now 11-2 overall with the return of Big Ten play looming in the new year.
Standout performer: Morgan, Indiana’s senior leader, recorded just the second triple-double in program history as he finished with 10 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, three blocks and two steals in 30 minutes. The only other triple-double for an Indiana player came back in 1971 when Steve Downing had 28 points, 17 rebounds and 10 blocks against Michigan.
Statistic that stands out: All five Indiana starters scored in double figures as Al Durham Jr. led the way with 18 points. Romeo Langford added 15 points, Justin Smith and Devonte Green had 13 points each and Morgan had 10.
