According to a report Wednesday, former Indiana guard Eric Gordon opted out of his contract with Phoenix to become a free agent.
The 35-year-old Gordon declined his $3.4 million player option for the 2024-25 season, according to NBA insider Shams Charania.
Gordon, who played for the Hoosiers for one season (2007-08), has earned more than $179 million in his NBA career and has played for the Los Angeles Clippers, New Orleans, Houston and Phoenix.
He averaged 11 points, two assists and 1.8 rebounds last season for the Suns and shot 37.8 percent on 3s in 68 games.
Over 886 career NBA games, Gordon holds averages of 15.7 points, 2.8 assists and 2.3 rebounds. He’s a career 37.1 percent 3-point shooter and 81.1 percent free throw shooter.
According to Charania, Gordon is expected to be pursued by multiple NBA contenders for next season.
A 16-year veteran, Gordon has never won an NBA title.
Last offseason, Gordon reportedly had interest from the Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota and Milwaukee.
Gordon is currently playing for the Bahamas national team along with Deandre Ayton, Buddy Hield, Isaiah Mobley and Kai Jones. The Bahamas is attempting to qualify for the Paris Olympics via the FIBA qualifying tournament.
