Armaan Franklin enters transfer portal “in an effort to build relationships,” hasn’t ruled out returning to Indiana
Indiana guard Armaan Franklin entered the transfer portal Tuesday “in an effort to build relationships” with other schools, but hasn’t ruled out the possibility of returning to Indiana next season.
“Once IU hires a coach, he’ll still talk to the new coaches,” India Franklin, Armaan’s mother, told Inside the Hall. “Basically make sure that Armaan is a good fit for the new coach and the new coach is a good fit for him. In the meantime, he’s fostering other relationships and making sure that whoever’s coaching him next is a good fit for him.”
India said that they talked with IU Athletic Director Scott Dolson about the decision before it became public information in order to maintain transparency.
“We want to make sure that while they’re searching we’re doing our due diligence as well, in terms of fostering relationships,” India said. “…Everything is happening so fast so we just want to make sure that we have all of our options available.”
Franklin was one of the most improved players in the Big Ten last season, averaging 11.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.2 steals last season in 30.1 minutes per game last season for the Hoosiers.
As a high school recruit, Franklin chose Indiana over Purdue and Xavier.
