Welcome to ITH 4.0
Happy Friday and Happy Holidays to you all.
As you may or may not have noticed, I just went live with a re-design of the site. It’s our first significant revamp to the product since the fall of 2013.
If things aren’t looking right, do us a favor and clear your cache. If things still aren’t looking right, shoot me an email (rcorazza at gmail dot com) with your browser and operating system. We’re still working out some of the kinks and your help with bugs is much appreciated. General feedback and comments are also welcomed.
From my perspective, the code base was becoming too bloated. I’m now using LESS to write styles locally and have streamlined markup.
From the reader’s perspective, the goal here was to de-clutter, simplify, modernize and bring content to the forefront. If you’re on a huge monitor, we’re no longer squeezed into the middle of your screen at a fixed width. The header and footer expands to fill out most of the width and you’re treated to larger photos of Jamie’s great work. On mobile, photos and video now expand the full width of the viewport.
I also tracked click behavior for the last six months and have re-worked the top navigation to highlight what’s getting used the most. If something you used to find in the header navigation is no longer there, it’s likely down in the footer now.
One other thing: Our Twitter feed is no longer in the sidebar. It’s here on the #iubb page. There are more tweets and it’s a richer experience as far as media is concerned.
Alright, that’s about all I got. Thanks for reading!
