You get NO argument here regarding Rodman’s prowess as a great rebounder! Couldn’t care less about his off-court, attention-getting antics. I was simply pointing out 3 really proficient rebounders who were in the 6’5-6″ range.
I consider Wilt Chamberlain (led the NBA in rebounding 11 times and averaged over 23/game for his career) to be the absolute best rebounder I’ve ever seen, Bill Russell #2, and a toss up between Baylor/Rodman for #3. An argument could be made for Paul Silas to be among the best. 10,00 points/10,000 rebounds = a pretty good career.

I would love to have a player like Dennis Rodman… but thats a one time athlete right there. There will never be another like him.

EH played 16 games at Schroeder HS last season. He committed 24 PFs for an avg of 1.5 PF/game. He may well be our “last man standing” (in the paint) this year. As he adjusts his game to D1-level talent, hopefully his learning curve will not extend through the entire season.

Dennis Rodman was listed at 6’7″, 220lbs. Although you may not respect the man, he led the NBA in rebounding 7 times!

Indeed but height is not the sole requirement for a good big man, and honestly it’s not even close to my top priority. What I’d like to see, if Holt proves himself a quality addition, is a co-op effort between him and Davis at the 4 and 5 when Hanner comes out. Davis has great athleticism for his build, and Holt seems to be good in this department as well. From their respective rebounding numbers and Holts blocking ability they certainly seem to have good timing and toughness. If I was Kevin Wilson I might start recruiting them to play tight end for the football team.

Wingspan is much more important than height. While I admit, body plays a big factor too, DD doesn’t necessarily lack in that regard. He has a nice 7′ wingspan. Holt – 7’3″ and Hanner 7’4″

While I admit that comment made me smile, Holt hasn’t played a ball game yet…

Pound for pound and inch for inch, the 3 best rebounders I’ve ever seen play were all 6’5″: Jumpin’ Johnny Green-MSU/Knicks, Elgin Baylor-Seattle/Lakers and Oscar Robertson-Cincy/Royals-Bucks. TC should get some tapes of these guys and have DD watch them over & over & over & over…size does matter–the size of your heart and how badly you want to get on the glass. DD certainly has the physical attributes necessary to be a warrior for IU…all he needs is more time on the court.

Perhaps that is true, my point is he is extremely short for to play the 5 especially when ur 4 man is more of a 3.

The only similarities Mosquera-Perea, Davis and Holt share with Laimbeer, Mahorn and Rodman is that they play basketball and commit a lot of fouls.

Noah was hard nosed, sometimes a little hard headed as well lol. But those players were finesse and/or shooters when they got there. These players aren’t cut from the same cloth, they will need to be hard nosed

I thought he started looking comfortable toward the end of the season.

I like your opinion better, though, because that leaves room for bigger improvement!

I expect him to be fine this season.

I think he will push HMP and they will be key. The transition game is what CTC stresses and getting rebounds to initiate this is critical. With Yogi leading the charge and JB on the outside this will be fun to watch. Troy needs to step up the defense and someone (prob zieloft or johnson) need to hit that outside shot near 50% as well. Critical yr. Need a NCAA invite to the dance and then do some damage there. Really like the way this team is coming together. The heart and soul is hard work and getting rebounds though and DD is probably the best we have at this. Hope the hype about HMP is correct. Always been a fan of his and reptitions should help a great deal.

Charles Barkley was 6’6″ and Draymond Green is 6’7″. He’s plenty big enough to bang down low if necessary. Toughness is what matters more than height and he seems to have the most toughness on our team.
