Minny has started to become a real thorn in or side the last few years especially up there. With all he has returning, this season is Pitino Jrs. chance to show if he can really coach. Here’s hoping he falls flat on his face.

Wouldn’t surprise me, but it also wouldn’t surprise me to see just about anyone next. I believe that Wisky is the clear favorite this year, and I also believe that RU, PU, NW and PSU are clear cut bottom feeders. From 2 through 9, I think this league is going to be very fluid. I think UM, MSU, Neb and OSU (no order) will be 2 through 5. The next group will consist of IU, Illinois, Iowa, Minny and MD (no order).

But would it surprise any of us if ANY of that second group bypassed any of the teams in the first? It wouldn’t me. I don’t believe it is out of the realm of possibilities that any of the UM, MSU, Neb and OSU group finishes lower than 5th. Nor do I think it is crazy to think IU, Illinois, Iowa, Minny or MD finishes in the top 5. Lots of parity this season. Should be a really interesting winter.

IMO the Gophers will be a handful for IU just because of their experienced and huge front court. Pitino is young….but very savvy having been his dad’s right hand coach for several years. Not a match-up I look forward too this year.
