Zeller will spend his time with Howell..and if IU let’s Wood fire a 3 from the corner (which we have proved we can’t cover) could be a long night.

Defense..boards..pull up jumper and going to the hole..same as he did last year..all we need from him. 3pt shot last resort…never early in a possessions..especially if Cody is available.

when you look at our problem inbounding the ball and defending same..I’d say there is some room for speculation.

That sounded like a challenge to me! Hope TC is up to it..I think playing new teams will help. We had a great spirit and mojo in last years tourney..hope we have the same this year.

That’s fine, Remy. It’s not like anyone is AGAINST Milla here. The comments just come off as a left-handed compliment and a little ungrateful for the sh#t sandwich Crean has devoured the last four years. He’s proven himself already to many of us who don’t need the next 6 games to know what we “really have” in a coach. Apparently, he still has work to do with some others of us. That’s cool. No need to get in a twist over it.

John Calislimy is somewhere right now muttering to himself, ” no matter HOW much ya pay for a high school player these days you still can’t count on them to get the job done ” and ” I can remember the days when you could buy a good high school player for a few season tickets and a 4 year imaginary job for his dad or mom, hell they tell me that Rupp used to buy them for a freakin’ tractor, man I miss those days “

And this just in: UK still not in the big Dance.

And, ooops, now they’re not in the NIT either.

Milla, my sensitive friend, you diminish yourself with name calling. Carry yourself with some aplomb. Be prepared for pushback when you make grandiloquent statements like “we’ll know what kind of coaching ability we’ll have in the next month”. You are entitled to your grandiloquence, and others are entitled to challenge you. It’s not personal, just smart and passionate fans making conversation.

Greg , Plane , and Arch , I’m 100% with Milla here , nobody is saying that CTC is a bad coach . But I am saying he has had bad games , some that we ended up with a ” L ” . Players get better ….coaches get better . It’ the time of year that the team has got to get better.

Rooting for you to stop over substituting . There’s no reason to take 4 of our starters out at the same time . Our bench and freshman have underachieved , and we haven’t been playing our best or all that good for that matter . If we play like we have in past 6 games , banner 6 won’t be hung . When we play like we can we ARE the best team . Cody needs to play pissed off , Victor needs to play like he’s on Broadway , Will like he’s in a court room , Cwat like a man , Jordy like a Marine Corps sniper . Good luck guys … please let me use my reservation for Atlanta !

I agree with that, but would argue that we still have the most talented team in the country RIGHT NOW. No one is jumping ship regardless. And I don’t think people are getting my initial post. We’re all assuming I am saying he might fail, fact is if (when) we go deep he can tell the critics to shut the H up. It works both ways.

We might learn something about our coaching staff in the next month. But we might not. It’s most likely they’ll “just” continue to do a very good job like they have for years now, putting the team in a position to win games, and Indiana will either win a banner or lose at some point because of the players.

Because the fact is, players play the game. Coaches don’t coach Jordan Hulls to go 1(meaningless)-for-7 on 3s against Wisconsin, and 0-for-Iowa. They don’t coach Will Sheehey to go 2-for-9 against Nebraska, and 1-for-5 against Michigan State, but 9-for-9 against Purdue in the middle. And we can be reasonably sure they don’t coach blown defensive assignments as we see in the film session.

This is a really good Indiana team, and one of the best teams in the country. Maybe THE best. Personally, I like their chances against any individual opponent they’ll come up against. But they’ll come up against 3 or 4 really good opponents, and will have to play well AND have some breaks along the way to win all of those games – just like every other really good team. As much as Milla’s comments on the team’s makeup are true, it’s also true that it’s a team with weaknesses – some of them significant. They could lose because of bad matchups, or they could lose because of a bad shooting night or a good shooting night by the other team, or they could lose because they’re out-executed, or, yes, they could lose because the coaching staff’s offensive or defensive schemes and adjustments don’t work.

Or they could win it all. But not winning it all won’t automatically be an indictment of the players OR the coaches. It bears repeating: Good teams – even really good, well-coached teams – lose basketball games.
