Just for my own selfish personal enjoyment, I would have liked to of seen a few more games scheduled against schools that I have actually heard of. At least a home match against a team like Creighton or VCU would have been a nice addition.

I hope you’re right. If Elston has a strong year, that would be a real boost. I’m not sure I see it, though. Again, hope you’re right.

I agree about the discussion being on topic, but I don’t think the calipari reference was lighthearted. It’s the second time he’s used the reference in forcing his argument. Once is enough.

I think Elston’s kind of the forgotten man in a lot of people’s eyes. I think that’s a mistake; he’s going to have a solid year.

Actually, a lot of the yokels are not pleased with the scheduling either because all the marquee games that used to be in Rupp on a bi-annual basis are now being played in Dallas, or New Orleans, or Minneapolis, or wherever there’s a dome.

If the defense isn’t there..real potential for early losses to UCLA and/or G-town and NC…altho the home court ought to be an insurrmoutable advantage for IU.

I’m all in for 2 hours per game but I’d lose serious marital points if I block the entire day.

I can’t wait for this season. GO HOOSIERS!!! and a big shout out to the hometown boy from Ttipton Derek Elston!!!

I also just wanna say with everyone talkin our road schedule is kinda week. I would like to point out that although we dont have to many true tough road games, we do play some marquee neutral site games and correct me if I’m wrong but tourney games are also neutral site games. So in my opinion I would rather load up on big nuetral site games to get used to that atmosphere.

I thought it was a funny reference. I also thought discussion of neutral sites vs true away games are on topic for a post about our schedule.

The REAL reason is Cal does not want to jeopardize his 38 game home winning streak. His ego can’t handle it, plus the local yocals would implode! Lmao

I agree they’re nowhere near as talented as last year and have very little experience. Playing the SEC will pad their record, but I expect this to be the weakest team during the reign of the slimy one.

Completely uncalled for to compare to, or God-forbid call, an IU fan ‘Calipari’. You’re a joke of an IU fan if you’re calling fellow IU fans by that name over a neutral/road site argument (that you actually turned into an argument).

I can make the argument. You don’t play on the road in the road in the NCAA Tournament, you play at a neutral site. The atmosphere is different at a neutral site than it is on the road, and there are plenty of Big Ten road games that will prepare IU just as well or better than any non-conference road games. Those half-empty NBA arenas during December neutral site games that you mentioned are exactly what many NCAA Tournament games are like until the Sweet Sixteen (or so) and later rounds. And if you’re team is playing uninspired during the regular season, December neutral site game or not, something is wrong with your team and/or coach.

Seriously you called me Calipari? Ouch. Here’s the deal: if the original poster had said that our lack of true road games during non-conference play would make us ill prepared for the Big Ten season, I’d be in complete agreement. Because during the Big Ten, we do in fact play in true road games.

All I said was that the experience we get from playing in Brooklyn should not be discounted. In other words, there is some value and we shouldn’t just cast those games aside simply because they aren’t true road games. Mainly since the games obviously aren’t at home either.

Who said anything about depth perception? Not me. I’m surprised you didn’t use the RPI argument – besides building confidence from playing in hostile crowds, that’s got to be a huge reason to play non-conference road games.
