Ha, “good luck this year”?

Cobb was good enough to be a starter when he was healthy, and Marcotullio started for the UK national team, but wasn’t healthy most of last season. Also, Nikola Cerina is going to start somewhere – he was a force for TCU before he transferred. You didn’t even mention that last year’s expected starter at point, Tre Demps is coming off a medical redshirt year, and that the Wildcats picked up yet another 7-footer in Chier Ajou.

Carmody’s a solid offensive coach, and will have more options than he’s ever had before. Do they make to the NCAA’s without Shurna? I dunno. The defense has to improve A LOT, but they’ve got size and depth this time around.

They’ll be different without him, but they add some solid pieces and might end up just as good.

The problem is that the B10 is even better than the last couple years and being just as good as Northwestern has been the last couple years will not be good enough for an NCAA berth.

Which is a darn shame. As these conferences get bigger, it’s making even a 68-team NCAA field too small. It is essential for a host of reasons that every conference receive an auto bid, but, in combination with larger conferences, it’s creating an unfair situation in which too many good teams are sidelined while too many mediocre teams make it in.

Hope he does well.
