From what many people are saying, they think we’ll have the POY, FOY, and DPOY? Pretty high expectations for a team…

Solid analysis by ITH. One thing that always makes me enjoy this site is their ability to be as unbiased as they can and use other sources and join with other blogs to bring great analysis.

Yeah, I don’t know how realistic it is to get 4 guys in the Top 15 in the conference when it is so loaded, but that’s how I see it. I really think that VO may have a shot at 1st team, IF he is more consistent as well as develops a better perimeter shooting game. If he does that, he is as complete a wing that the conference has.

Same with CWat. His bugaboo is consistency as well. He can be 1st team if he brings his A game each night too.

I think Hardaway on the 2nd team is the influence of “anti-homerism.” UM is the consensus 2nd best team in the B1G, they are Top 5 in many polls, so they have to have more than just Burke at the top. But Hardaway has the same issues as Victor can have with consistency and shot. I think Victor is the better athlete, plays on a better team, and has a higher ceiling. That’s why I give him the edge for the 2nd team over Hardaway.

I think ITH was doing the best they can to not homer on the these picks. Consider the following:

CWat is the returning career points leader in the Big Ten. He has 1st team “potential” if he brings it every night and rebounds better.

What is the ceiling on Victor? 2nd team is very attainable if he can knock down 3’s at a 35% clip.

Jordy? H yes! He is very capable of making this list. Who will be spotting up when Yogi is doing his thing? many, many open 3 pointers are in Jordy’s future. Limit the TOs and he is on the 3rd team.

Yogi can reach 2nd team if he is who we think he is. FR made it last year. Not sure why he can’t make on one of these squads.

I’d put Frazier ahead of Craft too. I think Thomas and Craft are both overrated, and I would not be surprised if neither were 1st team at the end of the season.

1st Team (in order)
Zeller, Burke, Frazier, Thomas, Craft

2nd Team (in order)
Crawford, Watford, Mbakwe, Oladipo, Berggren

3rd Team (in order)
Appling, White, Hardaway, Ferrell, Dawson

POY – Zeller
FOY – Yogi
D-POY – Craft (but Vic should have a good shot)
6th man – Will

i don’t know about yogi getting frosh of the year. we’ll see, he definitely has an opportunity to shine. it looks like harris might be their best option on offense. and we all know how ppg heavy these awards are.

Has had plenty of shooters to surround him first couple of years..his job was to run the team and lock down the opponet’s point guard which he effectively did. This year..while Thomas would LIKE to take 75% of OSU’s shots..I think Craft will be asked to score..and I think he will…pull up jumpers..getting to the rim..an occassional 3. I think his offensive potential is being overlooked by most IU fans. Guess we’ll find out.

I don’t see Raft or Crawford on #1 team. Would not be surprised to see VO move up to 1or 2.

A dunk is just two points, but if you leave that kid wide open it’s almost an automatic three.

Let’s not forget Watford is a far better shooter and was guarding the point at 6’9″ on multiple occasions. Oladipo is a far superior athlete and may end up a better basketball player some day, but right now I don’t know if I can agree with that statement.

I almost agree, but i pause because Victor’s amazing athletic ability allows him to be third team. Imagine Watford with Oladipo athleticism. When we speak in terms of a basketball player Watford is better. He can dribble and shoot better than Oladipo. Watfords game is more polished where Oladipo has barely scratched the surface. Hopefully Oladipo has shortened the gap this offseason.

A Vatican assassin warlock, mind you.

If Crawford doesn’t live up to the 1st team billing I think it’s more likely due to teams throwing everything at him defensively as opposed to record. Fraiser is highly thought of despite Penn State being about as talented as a marginal mid-major (kidding).

I prefer thinking of Alex as a warlock but true, he magically made the 1st team look better than the 2nd team. Also Milla, I agree with your Marble skepticism. If forced to take an Iowa player, I would have chosen White. I think the rationale behind them taking Crawford is that he is going to put up a lot of points and rebounds because of the lack of other scoring options. I don’t necessarily agree with the “accumulation stats because of a lack of other options equals worthy of being 1st team All-Big Ten” line of thinking but I think that was their rationale. I would agree with you though, Crawford probably won’t end up 1st team because NW, once again, will miss the tournament.
