The disturbing factor for me is, this is a so-called 5-month ESPN investigation right? And the story breaks the same day IU has a #1 2012 class?

This writer is a punk. I for one call for all to never read his stuff again. Are we a target? Good grief how about a bulls eye?

I just spent my lunch hour reading this and wondering if the other shoe is going to drop on this someday.

I made a comment about this on espn.com.  It’s not a lot more than an article inferring shadiness from a college programs ties to a closely based AAU program.  It’s largely crap.

I think Jurkin is the sleeper.  He is fairly quick and is a defensive stopper.  The basketball IQ will come and I hope people are pt with his development.  You can’t teach his length and athletic agility.  Patterson is also under rated.  However the key in this class in Yogi.  He and CZ together will be special. CZ will have pressure on him this year and will succeed if we can keep at least two scorers on the floor with him.  Look for Mo Creek to have a break out year.  CWat and JH will benefit immensely from CZ as well.  The key is staying healthy….and we are due for some luck in that area.

I’d be interested to see what other people think about the extra money athletes would recieve along with their scholarships.  I do think this will help IU and the Big Ten since the package that Student athletes receive will be better than mid majors.  Also think this may help to discourage athletes from trying to game ths system and permits those with real financial hardships to enjoy college just like their peers from more wealthy backgrounds.

This ranking won’t stick
Buss is playing with another team
We don’t have the top two Indiana kids

Good grief peeps. Let’s be happy where we are right now.

You might not have had a reason to ask, but only because he was moving to play with IU recruits. Which was something every IU fan was excited to see. That was pretty obvious based on the crowds that have showed up so far this spring.

However, the “left teammates hanging” theory (which I totally disagree that he left anyone hanging) could have been applied when Patterson and Hollowell left their respective teams to join Elite. No one did because everyone assumed it would benefit Indiana.

My point is that some are up in arms because this is viewed as a negative, but Patterson made the best decision for him and it has no effect on his commitment to Indiana.

We would have no need to ask why Hollowell or Patterson switched TO team Indiana.  It is obvious – to play with their future teammates!

I am one of the many (I assume) that is very curious and potentially concerned about him leaving his future IU mates.  You are right that he doesn’t owe anyone an explanation, but that doesn’t change how I feel.

He better play with earplugs, because if he thinks the Hall is loud now wait until we start winning again!  Hopefully, by the time he steps on campus, that difficult transition will be over, and the transition back to the top of the Big Ten will be in full swing. That building will be nuts!

I’ve already addressed this plenty of times.

You could ask the same question when he left his original team (Indiana Elite One) to join Indiana Elite Team Indiana before the spring.

Or you could ask why Jeremy Hollowell left the Eric Gordon team to play for Indiana Elite a week before the first spring tournament.

The reality is that these are high school kids and I don’t think they owe anyone an explanation as to what AAU team they play for. To imply that he left anyone “hanging” gives it a negative connotation. His relationship with Indiana and all of the 2012 kids hasn’t been affected by this. And I’ve talked to enough people about it to feel confident in saying that.

So then why did he leave his teamates hanging and change teams?

He’s still playing for Indiana Elite, it’s just a different team within the program. The move had nothing to do with animosity.

Most of our guys already wear Indiana on their chests “Indiana Elite” except for Ron Patterson.  I hope there isn’t anything wrong happening with he and his teammates.  I hope it is solely based on the Coach of the team and not any animosity between him and the rest of the guys because they’ll have to play together again at THE IU.
