There is very little doubt that Zeller, Watford and Hulls are the stars
of this team. If any one of the three can become a top 5 All-Big 10
player, this will be a good (20+ win) season. Vic and Will are the next
best players and have to get 22-25 minutes/game on the floor each.
Elston and Pritchard have to do it on the floor, “being 6’9” is no
longer good enough. Derek could be great, but can he develop the mental
side of his talent? Verdell can show that he is the senior leader that
we have desperately needed for the last three years. If he can accept
lesser “billing” but play great, then this can be a special season.
Austin and Remy have to bring it all and bring it hard every second on
the floor. They each have some real talent that Indiana has sorely
needed. I hope that Matt Roth hits 50% of his 3’s because if he can’t
Danny Moore might. Danny does a lot of good things in short stretches.
No more excuses now for Coach Crean, it is win NOW time! We miss and
love you Mo Creek and want to see you play again at 100%! GO IU!

Having Will and Victor eases the pain of losing out on a Gary Harris or missing another season with Mo Creek. I think Will brings some ‘umph’ to the table and some enthusiasm that this team needs. When a frosh ask to guard Jordan Taylor from Wisconsin you have to respect that.

Finally, for an in game dunk this one lifted me off my couch with an expletive I hoped my son didn’t hear….

This is definitely one of my favorite players. He might be the only guy on the team with real swagger. I have a feeling as he gets better and better the rest of the fans in the league are going to grow to hate that about him, which will make me like him even more! He has the cockiness of Luke Recker, and maybe the work ethic to ultimately be the better player……..I would love to see him stick a couple threes in a row, and then cap it off with another Sheebag dunk but this time at Purdue in the midst of a 16 point run that ends with a comfortable win and Lewis Jackson with Will’s shoe print on his head

In reply to Anonymous. Very well said. I think the players that are gravitating towards IU now are those type players. Will and Vic have that drive. The Zellers seem to have it. It appears that Yogi and Hanner have it, and so does Buss. I hope that JH has that drive because he's got the skills to be dominating if he does!

I love Will’s swagger. He’s become one of my favorite members of this squad. I’d love to see some improvement from him this year.

I've heard it said several times by several people that there just isn't a substitute for god given talent and while I agree with that to a certain extent there is also no substitute for the drive and heart that Will seems to possess. A person may have the god given athleticism in the world but it is of no use to that person or any other person if they do not possess the drive and heart to make use of it.

In reply to HoosierSmitty. It has to be so intimidating as an opposing player during a moment like that. You have 17,000+ screaming fans and the people with court-side seats are basically standing on the court jumping up and down and yelling. As the years go by, there are going to be more and more moments like this.

In reply to Anonymous. I agree! Watching him front Mbakwe was amazing against Minn. He was giving up 3 inches easy and probably 40+ lbs and yet he fronted him effectively and maintained got back into rebounding position when shots went up. I was slightly more than amazed when I saw him pull that off! I think he'll probably be IU's best defender until Hanner arrives!

This guy can fly! I am a big Sheehey fan. If his jumper and ball-handling have improved as much as it sounds, he will be a force this year.

When Verdell went down for injury last year I remember two key things that happened… Jordy took over the offense and Sheehey got way more playing time. It was the best our offense flowed all season IMO.

Just think, Sheehey and Olidapo came to IU ranked in the low 150’s nationally. And yet they’re both fan favorites and impact players for this team. Even with the 2012 heralded class coming in (can’t wait!), both Sheehey and Olidapo will still be major contributors!

In reply to JerryCT. Couldn't agree more was probably our most versatile defender and he done it with a lot of heart and when one factors in that he was a true freshman he done a respectable job. What Crean said after the game that Thompson was tearing us a new one still sticks in my head "there was only one guy that stepped up and wanted to take on the task to try and stop Thompson and we need for everyone to have that kind of mindset". Not a exact word for word quote but pretty darn close and it came to be known later on that that player was Will. If he keeps that kind of mindset he will be hard to keep off of the floor this season.

In reply to JerryCT. His problem on defense was he was a freshmen plain and simple. I thought he did a pretty decent job for the most part. He took some chances here and there and made some mistakes but he has what it takes to play defense...effort, athletic ability, and a little swagger. I can't wait to see his game round out a little bit.

“problem on defense at times ” ……………..true enough but he is actually our 2nd best defensive player on the team . He has defended every position on the floor and done well. His shutout of Juice Thompson for 7-9 minutes enabled us to get back into the game . He is far from our worst problem on D
