…but not lower than Northwestern, Minnesota, and Illinois. I’m guessing IU finishes somewhere between 6-8, pending largely on how the head to heads shake out between the 3 aforementioned teams. Finishing 9th would be below what i think most folks expect from this team – even with all of the unknowns. Too much talent, growing experience to rank them that stinkin’ low.

I’m a lot less worried about where we finish in the Big Ten and more interested in seeing overall improvement. If we are a better team and it translates into a 4-5 more wins and a few signature wins I am cool with that.

If that is accomplished and we finish 8th it’s all good. 2012 even more. 2013? I want to kick some major ass.

Great comment. I think everyone could use a dose of reality when it comes to projections

I think anywhere from 7th-9th is a logical spot for this year. IU is somewhere in the tier below MSU, UW, Ill., OSU

I think the middle of the Big10 can be put into a bag and pulled out in any random order. Are we going to be fighting against tO$U and Wiscy, NO. Are we going to be fighting Nebraska and Penn State at the bottom, NO (if we are, I will need stronger meds)…

Anywhere from 5 to 9ish is where IU will finish, just as long as its ahead of PUke.

That’s fine. Respect from writers hasn’t been earned yet and it won’t win us any games. I am no soothsayer and I cannot see the future. But my crystal ball sees us finishing higher than 9th. The writers are underestimating the impact Cody will have and the improvement our guys made throughout the offseason, they are also underestimating how many close games we lost last season (statistically unlucky) These guys have been through so much negativity and you would have to think they are as hungry as you can be to prove they can bring IU back to relevance in the conference. The players are ready, the fans are ready, 9th place isn’t happening.

11. Nebraska
10. Northwestern (losing Thompson hurts more than the writers realize)
9. Iowa
8. Minnesota (remember how bad they were without Nolan last year? He’s still not playing)
7. Illinois (Meyers Leonard expected to replace all frontcourt scoring? Okay.)
6. Indiana
5. Purdue (hedging my bet with Hummel. If he’s 100%, they are probably 2nd or 3rd)
4. Michigan
3. Michigan State (Dawson is very good and a perfect Izzo player)
2. Wisconsin (Jordan Taylor and Wisconsin’s horde of big white guys!)

Really dont agree with that whole Hummel all big tne thing, hes questionable at best! Hell put Creek on that list while your at it!

I noticed that too, and I agree with your conclusion. I myself believe this team has alot of potential to achieve 5th or 6th in the B1G, but if they can’t reach that potential and can’t get better at D, dribble drive and playing tough ever game (something I don’t think we came close to doing), then we could go as low as 10th (my floor).

I can’t wait for this season to start…Go Hoosiers…

Something tells me that Crean had this posted on the locker room bulletin board before the ink on it was dry.

While there has been no shortage of things that should make this team feel like playing with a chip on their shoulder this should be taken as a shot at their team as a whole.

O well just makes it that much more satisfying when we prove them wrong.

IMO the Big Ten has lost more talent than it is bringing in this year, and will only get 6 teams in the tournament. Ohio St runs away with it, but Michigan, Purdue, Michigan St. and Wisconsin also should get in, with the 6th and final spot going to Indiana. We should be better than Iowa, Penn St, Northwestern, Illinois, Nebraska and Minnesota….. The “experts” picked Illinois and Minnesota above us, but we beat both of them last year, and in the off season we got better, and they got worse……plus we have a better coach than both teams……..Now it’s time to prove it on the court…….ps, the Big Ten Network is showing every other team’s exhibitions on tv next week, but since we have the best, most loyal fan base, who will pay their stupid fees, they put ours on the ppv internet….what a sham….they better put it on tape delay at least…

Gosh, I’d hope that we’d finish higher than NW but other than that it’s as expected. If you get in that top seven normally you are a borderline tourney team.

Yeah… I understand that IU has shown next to nothing to warrant a higher ranking in these polls, but I find it hard to believe that 8 teams will finish better than IU
