Luke Fischer “real excited” about offer from Indiana
2013 Germantown (WI) forward Luke Fischer is a new name to surface on the Indiana recruiting radar in recent weeks. The 6-foot-9, 210-pound Fischer is playing up one age group this summer with Wisconsin Swing and has been watched closely by the Indiana coaching staff during the first week of the July evaluation period.
Tom Crean watched Fischer at both the NY2LA Next Level Invitational last week in Milwaukee and at the Kentucky Hoopfest in Louisville on Sunday. Inside the Hall caught up with Fischer, who has a wingspan of 6-foot-11, after a pool play game at the Kentucky Hoopfest for a Q & A:
On the recent scholarship offer from Indiana:
“He (Tom Crean) said he was really impressed with the film I sent to him. He thinks I would fit great into Indiana basketball. I’m real excited about that.”
On what he knew about Crean before he arrived at Indiana and was coach at Marquette:
“I was a Marquette fan and stuff. I always watched him and when Dwyane Wade was there, I loved watching that. I knew where he was coming from and his type of basketball.”
On the strengths of his game and what he’s working on this summer:
“Probably the post game is my favorite. Jump hooks. I’m looking to face up more and take jump shots when I’m open. I’m really evolving my game to the outside.”
On the schools that have offered and the schools showing interest:
“Indiana, Marquette, Creighton and Drake all offered. And then Wake Forest and Wisconsin are also interested.”
On his unofficial visit to Indiana in May:
“I loved it. It was really fun. The coaching staff was great and the campus was really nice. I liked it a lot.”
On if he’ll take any unofficial visits after AAU season concludes:
“Yeah, hopefully I’ll get a couple visits in during August and maybe a couple of camps, too.”
On the factors that will be important in his decision:
“I haven’t really thought about any of that yet. I’m just kind of letting schools contact me and trying to absorb it.”
