I agree.  This can be a problem when you get early commitments from players.  You don’t know who is going to develop the most.  VJ is ranked higher, right now, than either Hartman or Davis.  However, we have commitments from these two players and don’t need a third player that is similar.  Coach has said he is looking for a PG in the 2013 class.  I think that is his priority number one.  I also think he is trying to get another big man.  Over half of the projected 2013 roster is between 6’4″ and 6’7″.  We need bigs and a point guard to backup Yogi/Abell.

Kelin, you know I respect what you have to say, but I wonder if we all need to prepare ourselves for a steady flow of 1-3 year talent on the roster. Hanner appears to be possible one-and-done based on his rebounding and finishing prowess alone. From the scouting reports, it doesn’t sound like people EXPECT him to have a polished offensive game before an NBA team will go for him. JH appears to be showing HE may be the best player in that class, not Harris, which means we may only have him for a 1-2 years. Yogi’s size may be a knock on his early entry potential, but you never know given the rave reviews he’s getting as well.

My long-winded point is I think the coaching staff is recruiting like they do not expect to have some of these guys for very long and roster spots are going to be available. I think we’ve seen the Dukes, UNCs, and Kansases have those occasional “down” years when they were not prepared to refill the cupboard when they had an unplanned exodus on their roster. “Down” is a relative term here. Those programs have all been great even in down years. I just think CTC and the boys are recruiting so that they never get caught with their pants down because of early entrants or transfers.

I see where some are coming from if we were to have both he and Hartman in the same class with all the other wings in 2012 and 2014 but it scares me to let a kid like this go. 

He is not quite as tall and doesn’t quite have the verticle yet but looked like Kevin Durant’s brother out there…little KD.
