“Kelvin why does everyone hate us ?”
“I don't know Crimianlipari….we are so misunderstood and innocent”

I would rather see any really good recruit play for the University of Hell than those toothless inbreds down south. Hell I would rather see them play for the Russians before them.

In case anyone can't tell, to say the least, I very much dislike “them” not so sure denim shirt was not planted on us by them. He probably secretly owns a house in Lexingotn

The list that Cal has compiled is certainly impressive and he most definitely is on a streak that will continue with Knight or Selby but, who was Calipari's top one and done PG before Rose? Cal is on a streak. Period. I wouldn't assume that every top PG recruit is beyond Crean's reach on the assumption that recruiting the top or second rated PG is an already decided issue.

In order for Crean to fully implement his offensive plan at IU he will need a highly effective PG. He is going to get one – and when he does, hopefully he can begin his own streak of impressive names. On a related note, if/when this happens it would be really nice if those players would stay beyond one year. Just saying.

Ask USC how that's working out for them…

Granted, they're an exception and there's plenty of other good examples (Cuse, UK, Texas) but it's not always a slam dunk.

Having an NBA prodigy strategically recruiting for your program, donating money back into the program, participating in your on-campus camps, etc. is huge. I understand the points on how they can disrupt the progression of other players, but I think the benefits far outweigh the costs.

I believe he'll end up at UK. Like it or not, Calipari has a reputation of producing high lottery point guards:

Derrick Rose
Tyreke Evans
John Wall (and possibly Eric Bledsoe)
Brandon Knight (I bet he goes to UK, stays 1 year and gets drafted top 5)
Marcus Teague (he'll takeover for Knight)

Face it…UK is going to get the top 1 or 2 PG's every single year. Just look at the list.

If a coach can't get players to the NBA he isn't going to win a championship

He is a horrible pro coach and players will have zero respect for him.
Depending on how big Teague's ego is, the best thing IU has going for it is he could be the guy from day 1. The other schools all offer a much better shot at winning and Cal has proven he gets guards drafted high

Unless that looks like a Final 4 caliber team, that's kind of scary for me.

I'm just not sure one-and-dones are worth the risk unless they can make a huge impact (Big Ten Championship, Final Four). Look at Demetri McCamey at Illinois. It would be tough to argue that Gordon made a bigger impact at IU than McCamey has over there. That's why I lean toward the “4-star” player.

To think, what if the Kelvin mess would have occurred after the NCAA tourney?

Not just basketball skillwise, but personality, intelligence, etc?

Gordon was hurt at the end of the year plus all the drama with Sampson

I would take him a thousand times and so would the rest of the programs

These 5 star players think the top programs are the only places to go but the NBA is filled with players from programs all over the map. IU gets as much exposure as any program and their on the rise. He could come in and be a freakin star from day one and be in the NBA the next year without Cal's slimy agents.

That was a legit deep tournament team until the implosion brought on by the coach-who-shall-not-be-named.

However, I would argue that having a budding NBA star with “Indiana” as his school matters . . . it does.

And I'll take an Eric Gordon on my team any day. I think Kyrie Irving was another in that mold – not all one-and-dones are jerks.

If you ask me, nothing. (He got us to a first round loss to Arkansas.)

This is what concerns me about one-and-done players at a program like IU.

He fits the “Indiana Brand” . . . I think it'd be great to land him, for all the reasons above.

Having a player of his caliber on that 2011-2012 team could be the difference between just making the tournament and having a shot at the Sweet 16 and beyond.

While it's not a necessity that Crean keeps every great player from the state, it will certainly go a long way in building the program if IU can start landing the top Indianapolis talent year-in and year-out.
