Are they that stupid?

1.) Kelvin Sampson
2.) Bawa Muniru
3.) Guy-Marc Michel

None of those worked out.

I want elite players here too, but it amazes me how a few losing seasons will immediately shift us back to the point that we’re willing to once again disregard character for the sake of winning.

If Young’s a good kid who’s just had a few rocky patches, then bring him on, but I’m through “rolling the dice.”

Defense doesn’t look like a weakness watching this clip. Seemed very active on defense and offense. Not sure if he has a jump shot, but doesn’t matter. Need a banger inside to complement CZ, Watford, & TP.

Tubby says he isn’t leaving. Of course, that’s what all the coaches say right up until the minute they walk out the door. He also is saying that he’s calling the parents of his recruits to tell them he’s not leaving. For whatever any of that is worth.

I just looked at a picture of Goff and I swear his neck is thicker than the thighs of anyone on the existing roster. Sign him up.

Not sure how BJ shoots it, but I don’t see a lot there that stretches the defense. I’d prefer a long-range shooter in there somewhere.

If Mo Creek isn’t the starter at the 2 next year I’d be shocked if it’s not one of your seniors, Verdell Jones, III.

That seems like a lateral move at best. Honestly, I’d put the Big XII pretty far ahead of the SEC in basketball–especially in the less-than-stellar SEC West.

That at least keeps our team identity in tact .

I fully trust CTC on these things but as I noted above our greatest need is perimeter defense and pressure on the ball …………

That’s got to mean Young will look elsewhere, right? I can’t imagine him wanting to play at the pace Tubby prefers.

We were beaten badly by perimeter players for 2 years. Only one big led their team in scoring against us all year.

Losing JR and having no one to handle Morris, Craft, Payne/Cartwright, jackson, Taylor, Frazier it seems to me BJYoung is more valuable now than Goff.

NO one has earned the right to start every game for the rest of their career on this team…IMHO

I know, I wasn’t addressing academics at all. Just stating that it’s completely different than the Sampson players situation. Having a team full of bad apples is completely different.

Having a team of great characters allows the opportunity to take on a talented, albeit troubled kid and maybe make a difference in his life.

The academics is another issue. Of course if the kid isn’t going to attend class then I wouldn’t want him here.

With BJ Young it is more than just an attitude problem; there is also a serious academic problem. There is a very strong possibility this kid may not even be eligible in the fall. If that is at all a possibility it makes no sense to recruit an additional 2011 player if they cannot make an immediate impact.

Additionally, I graduated in 2008 so I saw a lot of the “problem players” in my time in Bloomington. It’s great to see a group of guys who now represents the team well and provides a clear delineation between us and kentucky.

Hulls has earned the right to start every game for the rest of his career. Jones and Watford have not.
