They did. They added more space behind the north bleachers, and I believe created some other space as well.

I haven’t been able to see a game at Assembly since I was a student.

Louisville is a completely different situation. They are basically the city’s pro team and have more access to large corporate sponsorships. We have had numerous facility needs for years, so unless someone wanted to write a $200 mil check, renovation was going to be the option with other donations spread to other projects.

Besides, UK, Duke, Kansas, etc do just fine in older arenas. And again, I honestly don’t know what viewing issues with AH you are referring to, as they have all been addressed. Being up high in the balcony isn’t an Assembly Hall issue, that’s an issue in most arenas.

What, specifically, is your issue? Do you just have poor eye sight? There are no obstructed views of the court, as the railings have been replaced by plexiglass. I have no idea what the walls have to do with anything. Again, there is a clear view of the court from every seat. Yeah, the balcony is high. Check out Banker’s Life sometime to compare. The only issue was seeing the video board under the balcony, and they hung monitors under there a few years back so that’s not an issue anymore.

You have every right to do so, but that’s not really a threat or anything. There’s a wait list for season tickets.

Also the seat size (new ones will be same size) is pretty typical. Not sure what arenas you’ve been to.

Not only does it make for a better home court advantage and better fan experience, but I’m sure more dollars made.

Not only that… but ask Louisville what a new arena can do.. as they dominate everyone in revenue each year.

There’s a sweet spot to be had between new and character and I think we’re striking that balance like Hinkle (Butler) has done but on a larger scale. IU Basketball…Bloomington for that matter…hell, college basketball without Assembly Hall would be something less. Keeping the history, something you can’t just go out and design, its earned, is super smart and financially disciplined. The big ticket investments should go towards football at this point because the potential upside in revenue, or ROI essentially, is so strong. With the new improvements, what’s wrong with Assembly Hall at this point aside from balcony viewing?

Then you should’ve written a $200 mil check marked for NEW ARENA.

I was waiting for it the whole video lol. I usually get nosebleeds when I get the chance to go, so a nice chair is good after a climb hahaha. It’s the little things in life.
