Class of 2017 guard Al Durham sticking with Indiana
Class of 2017 Berkmar (Ga.) guard Al Durham is sticking with his commitment to Indiana.
Durham, a 6-foot-4 guard, announced the decision tonight after meeting with Archie Miller for two hours. He had originally asked for a release from his National Letter of Intent after Indiana fired Tom Crean last month.

“The meeting (with Archie) went real good,” Durham’s father Al Sr. told Inside the Hall on Thursday night. “That’s what it was all about. When we asked for the release, we didn’t know who the coach was going to be. We just wanted to make sure we had our options open just in case they got a coach he didn’t like. Once the hire was made, Archie did a great job of communicating with us, communicating with Al and making him feel comfortable. He laid out his plan, showed how Al fit and the opportunity he will have and the growth he will get.
“And once again, it’s still Indiana basketball. That’s hard to pass up.”
Durham was recently named all-state by the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association. He’ll participate in next week’s Derby Festival Basketball Classic in Louisville.
In terms of the plan in place for Durham, his father said Miller was very specific in laying out his vision.
“If you look at what he did at Dayton, with the type of guards he had at Dayton, Al fits right in,” Durham Sr. said. “Open floor system, lots of pick and rolls. That’s Al’s game. Shooting, getting to the basket and drawing contact. All of that fits into what he does and what he coached at Dayton.
“It was almost like a no-brainer. He fits in perfectly for the style of play and what he’s looking to bring to Indiana and what he wants.”
Durham intends to arrive in Bloomington in June.
