First team voting will be interesting. I think there are about 8 players in the conversation: Vic, Cody, Burke, Hardaway, Appling, Dre Hollins, Mbakwe, Thomas.

If we removed any politicking from coaches for their players, I’d expect that Vic, Cody and Burke are no-brain selections. After that, the other two slots are up for debate. I figure Thomas will make it, because he will lead the B1G in scoring, so he will get votes despite my view that he is incredibly overrated. If MSU stays ranked in the Top 10, I would imagine that Appling will get some play on 1st Team, but I don’t think he warrants that selection either.

I’d go with Vic, Cody, Burke, Hardaway and Mbakwe if you are picking the 5 best players, but I think it will be Cody, Burke, Appling, Thomas and either Vic or Hardaway depending on who wins the conference.

I don’t think either Vic or Cody will end up winning POY, because they will split some ballots. On one hand, Victor is typically the mVp of the team, but Cody is the mOp.

If you read the article, Victor actually received 2 first place votes and Cody received none. They are 4th and 5th respectively. Impressive to have two guys in the Top 5, even if it is just a straw poll.

We have so many weapons. I think Vic and Cody get beat up a little bit on their stats. But hey, let VO chuck up 25 shots like Burke and see what happens. We lead the nation in points per game and these two studs are at 16 and 14 ppg???? Put them on Purdue and they both are scoring 20+ ppg.

An announcer said it recently, and I see it every game. Victor is always the best player on the court. Burke is very good and will probably win B1G POY. But he’s not more valuable than Vic.

Vic will be selected as a 1st Team ALL B1G by the media. But not by the coaches. Having two Hoosiers on there would be too much for them to handle.

I know I haven’t watched every team out there as closely as I’ve watched the Hoosiers, but I just can’t imagine any player that is player better than Oladipo. If there are 3 other guys playing at a level higher than Vic then WOW!
For my own selfish reasons I wish Vic would’ve continued to fly under the radar so it wouldn’t make sense for him to jump to the NBA after this year.

It’s about time that he gets some pub from the national writers and not just those in the B1G footprint. If he continues to play the way he has of late then I’d like to see someone that is a better candidate for POY. He has been great on both ends of the floor all year. I love Vic and I hope he stays another year, but I’m afraid that by the end of the year he’ll have played his way into the lottery. So I’m going to enjoy each and every last game he has in the Cream and Crimson!
