I’m surprised no correlation was made between shot-blocking/alteration and rebounding, which is one of our strengths.

A big part of this is are length. All of our wings plus bigs and we make it hard for anyone to shoot. Playing JH and/or WS instead of a true shooting guard gives us 4 lengthy players in our starting lineup. Devin Davis coming off the bench for any of these keeps us big, but that may not continue if Crean reduces his minutes due to the high turnovers. I’m sure Crean will be criticized either way but there are some tricky decisions to be made going forward. I’ve never had this much data on a team with 11 underclassmen before but we have it due to how many of them Crean has played, now lets see what he does with it in B1G play.

Everybody seems to love Ken Pom and all the other stats sites and sure there is some incite to be gained there. I just think we tend to get carried away with it sometimes because numbers dont always tell the whole story.

Most of those numbers can be attributed to our opponents’ lack of scoring ability. It’s easy to pad the stat sheet against cupcake teams. I’m not knocking our schedule. I think it’s good to play some warmup games especially when we lack experience, but I wouldn’t get too excited about any stats that come out of those games.
