In reply to HannerTime Hoosier. That's kinda what I think too. It might be a net-positive, in the long run, if it brings the team together and strengthens it. Especially for a young team, these sorts of things can help if handled well. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Big game tonight. I’m really excited about this team, but am also really apprehensive about how they’re going to react to tougher competition. I’m doubly excited to see the full team together and hope they find their chemistry right away. I’m glad all this nonsense is behind them and think it will make them all a better and stronger team in the long-run. And of course, I hope to see D Davis on the sidelines soon, when he’s strong enough to be there. It looks like he’s making rapid progress. Whether or not he is able to play is irrelevant at this point, as long as he makes a full recovery. (but if he can suit up sometime in 2015, all the better) I think his presence could have a great emotion effect on the team, by simply being there with them.

Hoosiers by 9 tonight, and 5-0 by next Monday.

My thoughts exactly. This website occasionally comes across as if it’s full of a bunch of backwards, repressed Calvinist fundamentalists, who would sanction spring time itself, for being so wildly lascivious. What a horrible representation of IU and Bloomington in particular! What a huge turn off for a talented 18-year old looking to broaden himself and play hoops at a top US university. Bloomington is such a hip and great place to live…I wish all the 50-year old virgins would just go back to watching Matlock and Murder She Wrote reruns and leave these kids alone.

In reply to Arch Puddington. I agree with you, but I think recruits who care that such transgressions be penalized will respect us even more for having dealt with them gracefully and according to protocol, knowing that these things happen elsewhere but are often swept under the carpet.

Arch, I think even good people can make mistakes and I’m inclined to accept their apologies and move on. Actions always speak louder than words, and in their cases that will be even more true than usual – they can prove if their apologies are sincere or not. I hope they are.

Anybody else wondering if this was Crean’s idea to have these guys interviewed by Dana? If so, its a great way to drive home to magnitude of their decisions. To have one of the top bball reporters from ESPN in town asking about your regretful decisions. Make them give full interviews and admit to a national audience that they’ve made some bad choices and how they are going to live their lives moving forward. I think a lot of good can and hopefully will come from all of this. Similar to how Scottie Wilbekin bounced back last year for Florida after a handful of bad decisions to become a great leader on his team.

Time to focus boys, the real season begins tonight.
