It’s a shame all those 2012 youngsters considering IU aren’t graduating this coming year. I’m not a scout but here are some possibilities based on my 15 minute google search, I believe Cannon to be the most noteworthy. All these guys are listed as “considering” IU on rivals.com.

John Cannon – 6’10, 225 lbs (2 star (87 grade) ESPN, 3.5 star Rivals)
Based on the basic ESPN review he sounds decent (not slow) with good potential if he hits the weight room. Also, he has an offer from Princeton and is considering Harvard so I’m guessing he’s not an idiot – my kind of guy. I couldn’t find any videos on him.

Jacob Williams – 6’5, 180 lbs (2 star (86 grade) ESPN, 3.5 star Rivals)
Not too much on this kid. You can never really tell too much from youtube. They always have nice dunks and hit every shot. Never a good indicator of defensive ability or lack of. Appears athletic. Plays guard and forward positions so he has some handles.

Others: Austin Keel (reminds me of Roth), Walter Pritchford (has been discussed previously)

I understand where you are coming from, however for me, I look at the BC game and see a guard would have helped us. I think we filled a need with Cody, Chandler would be as good a get a anyone in the spring. He was previously drooled over by Cal, Pitino, and others and is a big time talent. We could not go wrong either way….I lean slightly to a combo guard. I even heard dakich mention that today, we really missed a guy that could get his shot or a shot for others in the KY game….we will see how it plays out…

Kelin, I am now on board with Michael Chandler or McGary over a PG. The lost to KU was due to lack of size in the interior and our bigs just wearing down. If you have seen any of my earlier post, I was an absolute NO on Chandler, but at this point I say take a chance on him or McGary. If they work out, the plus is much higher then the plus on Amayo, plus it allows Zeller to play more at the PF position.

Saw this elsewhere from his twitter account…..(and I am not a twitter follower of ANY player or recruit..not my cup of tea)

Chandler is a true 5, a Center with a Post offensive and defensive game. Chandler and Zeller, two in-state Indiana players would be outstanding together at IU, and form a formidible front line. A Big Time post player is the difference between being a good team and a great team.

Vic is his good friend and former teammate!

Chandler is a nice player but I don’t get a good feeling about him.

No Young….Save the scholly, go into 2011 with the cards you have. Quinn Cook has left us off his list. Give the keys to Yogi for 2012

I never look at the date of the post. How do you find them and repost them to a current discussion? We need a Rule against Kelin reposting all 2000 of his pearls of wisdom for each new topic!

But what is the plan if Young says no to IU? What is your plan if Zeller says no to IU? My plan for Young was A Thomas, but we lost that chance. Now my plan would be Quinn Cook. My plan for Zeller is Chandler first, then Goff. If we can not get any of these, then enjoy the lump of coal because Austin Etherington will be a diamond in the rough!

We will revisit this issue at the end of the 2012-13 season, and annually thereafter until after the NBA draft. I watched every game of DJ’s career, and I love the kid. But it took him until the middle to late part of his junior year to hit the 17′ contested jump shot at a high %. Cody can do this and much more now, and he has one more year of HS ball to work on his game.

It was a preemptive strike, of sorts. 🙂
